Gas Main Project Update: The National Grid gas main project along Slough Rd, Satucket Rd, and Stony Brook Rd is entering a new phase
The current phase, which begins today (5/12/20), will include introducing gas into the system. As the gas is pumped in from the Harwich end of the main and travels to Brewster the system will be checked along the way. This may result in an occasional hissing sound and an odor of natural gas. This is a normal part of the process and National Grid and their sub-contractor will be on location during this process.
Additionally, while the gassing of the system is ongoing, the small section of Stony Brook Rd between Rt. 6A and Brier Ln. will remain closed. Officers will be on location to assist detouring vehicles. This phase is expected to last one to two weeks.
