The Town of Brewster held a public forum about the potential acquisition of the Cape Cod Sea Camps on August 17. The program included a presentation on costs, financing, possible future uses, and the potential use of eminent domain to acquire the properties. Questions and comments from the public were invited. The forum was designed to provide information in advance of Special Town Meeting on September 25 where voters will determine if they want the Town to acquire one or both Sea Camps properties.

Acquiring the Sea Camps would provide the Town with new beaches, extensive recreational facilities including an Olympic-sized pool, buildings that could serve as community centers, and the opportunity for conservation, drinking water protection, and housing. Town acquisition would prevent private development of the parcels.
The Cape Cod Sea Camps closed in 2020. The Select Board believes Brewster voters should have the opportunity to determine if the Town should acquire the parcels.
