Applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds for Housing Rehabilitation and Childcare are Now Available
With Brewster as the lead community, the Towns of Brewster, Dennis, and Wellfleet received a FY2021 Regional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of up to $1.3 million dollars. These funds enable the towns to continue providing housing rehabilitation and childcare assistance for low to moderate income year-round residents, those earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). These maximum income levels have increased significantly over the past year. For example, the income limit is currently $86,950 for a household of four.
Childcare funding offers eligible families subsidies of up to $6,000 per child, paid directly to a licensed childcare provider, to assist families in seeking or maintaining employment.
Housing Rehabilitation funds can provide a 0% interest, deferred, forgivable loan to make critical home repairs. The program is designed to improve the housing conditions of income qualified households. Funds up to $50,000 are available to eligible residents to pay for critical home repairs, like: roofing and siding, electrical, heating and plumbing work, structural repairs, lead paint abatement and energy efficiency upgrades such as windows and storm doors.
Applications for both the housing rehabilitation and childcare funds are available. Funding is awarded to income eligible year-round residents on a first come, first served basis.The Resource, Inc.
