Select Board to Hold Public Hearing for Regional Housing Rehabilitation and Childcare Grant Application
During the Monday January 9th meeting, the Select Board will hold a public hearing on a FY22/23 Regional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for housing rehabilitation and childcare assistance. Last year, Brewster, as the lead community for a regional program supporting Brewster, Dennis, and Wellfleet, received a $1.3 million-dollar FY21 CDBG grant. The Town now has an opportunity to apply for up to $1.7 million to continue providing housing rehabilitation and childcare assistance to low-to-moderate income year-round residents, those earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Funds remain available for the current CDBG program and are awarded to income eligible year-round residents on a first come, first served basis.
Bailey Boyd Associates oversees the childcare assistance Childcare Programs — Bailey Boyd Associates. An eligible family may receive a childcare funding subsidy of up to $6,000 per child to assist the family in seeking or maintaining employment.
Housing rehabilitation funds provide a 0% interest, deferred, forgivable loan to make critical home repairs. Funds up to $50,000 are available to eligible residents to pay for critical home repairs, like: roofing and siding, electrical, heating, and plumbing work, structural repairs, lead paint abatement and energy efficiency upgrades such as windows and storm doors.The Resource, Inc.
