In the interest of helping our environment by recycling organics into compost, Eddy Elementary School students recently began separating their food and soiled paper waste when eating in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch. The organics program kicked off January 10th with a morning assembly followed by collection at lunchtime. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students did a fantastic job separating organics and trashing non-organics. They also poured off any liquid waste and sent their reusable silverware and trays back into the kitchen for cleaning. This environmental project was brought forward by the school with assistance from the Brewster Recycling Commission.
