Brewster Cultural Council Seeks Funding Proposals

Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs due November 16.

The Brewster Cultural Council welcomes grant proposals for interesting, innovative, educational, creative, or entertaining projects that will serve members of our community or the Lower / Outer Cape as a whole. Organizations, schools, and individuals are urged to apply. These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities, including exhibits, festivals, field trips, workshops, lectures, and short-term artist residencies or performances in schools. Besides the intrinsic merit of the project, the Brewster Cultural Council takes into consideration whether the applicant is from Brewster, whether the project involves Brewster residents, whether the project takes place in Brewster or is easily accessible to Brewster residents, and if the project is of benefit to underserved members of our community. Activities must occur between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

All applications are due by November 16, 2020. Applicants must submit an application through the Massachusetts Cultural Council at For more information about the Brewster Cultural Council and its funding priorities, visit

The Brewster Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The Local Cultural Council Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community. The Town of Brewster provides funding support to the Cultural Council through the annual operating budget as well.

This year, the Brewster Cultural Council will distribute about $5000 in grants.
