Mill Sites Committee News

The Mill Sites committee recently received a wonderful donation from the Locke family – numerous newspaper clippings and photos, many dated 1940-41, that tell the story of how the town acquired the Stony Brook Gristmill, the history of Factory Village and the work of the original Mill Sites committee. The material provides a fascinating glimpse into pre-WWII Brewster and it is a treasure.

The committee is also pleased to announce that the Stony Brook Gristmill will be open and grinding corn on Saturday, October 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Come see the millworks in action and buy some cornmeal for fall and winter baking. Admission is free!
