Open Position: Local Inspector

The Town of Brewster seeks qualified candidates for the position of Local Inspector. The position is responsible for administrative, technical, and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of State Building Code, Brewster Zoning Bylaws, and other applicable regulations. Duties include but are not limited to; inspection of buildings under construction to ensure compliance with building codes and zoning bylaws; issue certificates of inspection and stop work orders; investigate complaints of building code and zoning violations. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with all constituents, including contractors and residents, department heads, staff, elected and appointed officials. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, design, engineering, architecture, or related field and/or master craftsman level of building construction trade knowledge, with a minimum of five years of prior work experience preferable in the supervision of building construction or design, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. MA Construction Supervisor License and Local Inspector Certification required, (or the ability to attain certification within 12 months of hire). This is a full-time, Grade III Personnel Bylaw position with a starting pay rate of $32.57- $36.67 pr/hr.
