Town Officials Celebrate Opening of Brewster Woods Community Housing

On Tuesday May 9, Brewster Town officials and staff, represented by Select Board Vice Chair and Affordable Housing Trust member Ned Chatelain, celebrated the official opening of Brewster Woods at a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Preservation of Affordable Housing and Housing Assistance Corporation, non-profit co-developers of 30 units of new rental housing. The Town received a $1.68M state MassWorks grant to assist with construction of infrastructure for this new neighborhood.  Town Administration and the Select Board thank our legislative delegation, especially former State Representative and Brewster resident, Tim Whalen, for their advocacy in helping to obtain this critical grant. Local Community Preservation Act funds also supported the community build. Brewster Woods, located on Brewster Housing Authority land, was built to energy efficient passive standards, creating a green and sustainable community. We welcome Brewster Woods residents to our community and thank the many individuals who were involved in bringing this new housing to Brewster.
