“A Message from Fire Chief Robert Moran”

Welcome to the Brewster Fire & Rescue Department website. Please take the opportunity to scan through our various pages to learn more about what we do and the many other features and faces of our organization.

The Brewster Fire & Rescue Department is an ISO Class 2/2X full-service organization that provides multi-hazard services to 10,000 year-round residents in a seaside community measuring approximately 24 square miles. With our various local amenities such as Ocean Edge Resort, outstanding restaurants, Nickerson State Park, Cape Cod Bay, Drummer Boy Park, Cape Cod Rail Trail bicycle path, and numerous freshwater ponds this population increases to over 30,000 individuals during the summer months.

To protect this populace our department employs 23 full-time personnel who provide professional services ranging from Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, Fire Suppression, Technical Rescue, Water Rescue, and Hazardous Material response. Additionally, through the valued efforts of our Fire Prevention Office and Community Engagement Team we also deliver exemplary fire prevention, fire inspection, community risk reduction, and fire safety education programs to a diverse collection of students, residents, and public groups.

The men and women who provide these services are highly trained, solution-oriented extremely motivated, and loyally focused on their core mission of serving the community. In my estimation they are the finest fire and rescue service professionals in the state. I am both humbled and honored to lead such a skilled, dedicated, and compassionate group of fire and emergency medical service experts.

We take great pride in our motto “Excellence in Service” and the many qualities that make us a leading community-based service organization. Some of these qualities include.

  • An unwavering commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • A recognition that we are a highly essential part of our community.
  • Our commitment to providing high quality training to our personnel.
  • A consistent focus on meeting the community’s emergency response needs in a successful, cost-efficient manner.
  • An unfailing dedication to our overall objective of improving the quality of the daily life safety of the residents and visitors to the Town of Brewster

Our department has a long-standing history of providing high-quality service and programs to the community. In 2022 we completed the development of a revised five-year strategic plan that set several progressive operational and personnel related goals and objectives that we plan to use as the foundation of our future endeavors. A copy of this is available on this website.

In closing, I would like to thank our residents, community stakeholders, and Town officials for the unwavering support they provide our evolving organization on a daily basis. It is through this sponsorship that we pledge to continue our tradition of providing high-quality all-hazard response services to the community with professionalism, compassion, integrity, and respect.

Yours in Service,
Chief of Department
Robert Moran
