Final Oyster Sunday – January 21

The Town of Brewster will host the last Oyster Sunday of this season on January 21 at Mants Landing.  The beds will be open from 12:45 pm until the supply runs out.  We ask that people be considerate of others and only harvest what you will consume.

2024 Recreational Shellfish permits are preferred but 2023 permits will be honored.  New permits are now available for purchase at Town Hall.

As you mark your calendar, keep in mind these helpful hints:

  • Remember to dress warm.
  • Temperature restrictions apply (we cannot harvest if the temperature is 30 degrees F or below).
  • Wear gloves to protect your hands.

This year, the Department of Natural Resources is putting together a collection of recipes, stories, and photos from our shellfishing community in the first edition of Favorites from the Flats.  We need your help!  Please email your favorite recipes for oysters in the following categories: raw, cooked, and soups.  Please include a picture to accompany your recipe.  Do you have a unique way to eat oysters?  Send it in - we will have a chapter called “Outside the Shell”.  We are also looking for photos and stories related to the flats and your happy times spent there.  All submissions can be sent to cwest@brewster-ma.gov.
