Update on Mill Pond Water Levels & Herring Run

Water levels are currently extremely high in the Mill Ponds due to a combination of an obstruction between Lower and Upper Mill that backed up water and all of the recent rain. We are trying to allow as much water through the dam at the Stony Brook Mill as possible at this time. 

Herring are running but they will have to wait several days for water levels and stream velocity to begin to subside. The Alewife Committee and Natural Resources Department are monitoring the situation and making adjustments daily.
