Stony Brook Mill Site Retaining Wall and Fish Passage

The Town of Brewster plans to reconstruct the retaining wall at the Stony Brook headrace pond, which is currently failing and in danger of collapse. This project will also involve the redesign of weirs at the Stony Brook fishway, which have been identified as less than optimal for migrating herring.

    Project Goals

    • Improve migratory fish passage for herring.
    • Contribute to the preservation of Brewster’s unique character.
    • Preserve, rehabilitate, and restore an architecturally and historically significant resource.
    • Protect and enhance a beloved community resource.
