Long Pond Town Landing Closure Extended Through December 31

Landing to Remain Closed Until December 31, 2023 to Complete Boat Ramp Replacement Project
Long Pond

The Brewster Select Board voted at their November 27 meeting to extend the closure of the Long Pond Town Landing through December 31, 2023. Earlier this year, the Select Board voted to close public access to the landing from September 5 through December 1, 2023 in order to begin site improvements. At the request of the contractor, Speakman Excavation, the Select Board has now extended the closure of the landing in order to complete final paving, and the installation of the new dock and kayak launch.

The project will provide more efficient and safer boat access at Long Pond with the construction of the new boat ramp, the creation of a new dedicated entrance drive to the parking area, and the improvement of boat trailer parking. Chris Miller, Natural Resources Director and Griffin Ryder, Public Works Director are continuing to oversee the project, along with the engineering firm, Horsley Witten.

Additional limited closures may occur in Spring 2024 in order to finish the project, which is expected to be fully completed for the 2024 summer season. Updates will continue to be provided on the Long Pond Town Landing project webpage. Please call the Natural Resources Department with any specific questions about these improvements at 508-896-4546.
