Long Pond Town Landing Project Set to Commence in September

Town Landing Closed September 5 – December 1, 2023

The Select Board voted during their meeting on July 10 to close access to Long Pond Town Landing from September 5 through December 1, 2023 to work on the long-awaited boat ramp replacement project.

Long Pond Boat Ramp

The boat ramp contains large potholes and poses a safety risk in its current condition. The project includes construction of a new boat ramp, creation of a second entrance to the parking area to better separate beach and boat traffic, and improved on-site boat trailer parking. The Town recently went out to bid and selected Speakman Excavation of Harwich, MA as the contractor. Chris Miller, Natural Resources Director and Griffin Ryder, Public Works Director will share oversight of the project, along with the engineering firm, Horsley Witten.

“We are very excited to be moving forward with this project to improve safety and access at Long Pond Landing,” said Town Manager Peter Lombardi.

Additional closures may occur in Spring 2024 in order to complete site work and landscaping. The project is expected to be fully completed by late Spring 2024.
