Brewster Announces 2025 Books & Big Ideas Program - Living on the Coast
Following on the success of last year’s inaugural community reading initiative, Brewster is set to launch its 2025 Books & Big Ideas program. This year’s theme is Living on the Coast. Starting in September, community members are invited to read titles from a curated selection of books featuring different perspectives about the coast, including the importance of marine ecosystems, climate change and coastal adaptation, aquaculture, and more. This partnership between the Brewster Ladies’ Library and the Town is designed to encourage discussion about critical issues affecting our community.
The following books, organized by intended audience, are available at the Brewster Ladies’ Library for community members interested in participating in this year’s program. Most of these titles are also available for purchase at the Brewster Bookstore:
Adult titles

- Shucked: Life on a New England Oyster Farm by Erin Byers Murray
- Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore by Elizabeth Rush
- A Cape Cod Notebook (Volume 1) by Robert Finch
Young Adult

Books & Big Ideas will include a series of engaging events in September and October 2025 to facilitate the sharing of ideas. Residents are invited to attend and participate in the following community activities:
- 2025 Books & Big Ideas Kick-off & Flow Movie Screening – Saturday September 6 at 2PM at Ladies’ Library
- Cape Cod Museum of Natural History Guided Family Field Walk (featuring Clem & Crab and A Cape Cod Notebook) - Sunday September 14 at 9AM at CCMNH
- Mass Audubon Nature Walks – Saturday September 27 at 8:30AM (Birds & More of the Bay Property) & 10AM (Search the Seashore) at Sea Camps Bay Property
