Commercial Razor Clam Fishery Re-Opens for the 2026 Season on June 1

The Town of Brewster has officially re-opened the commercial razor clam fishery for the 2026 season beginning June 1.

Please note that this is a limited entry fishery, and space is limited. There are two participation categories available:

  • Regular Harvester – Ages 21+
  • Junior Harvester – Ages 16–20

Applications will be accepted through May 26, 2026. Completed applications may be delivered to the Brewster Natural Resources Office located at 1657 Main Street, Brewster, MA. An after-hours mail slot is available for convenience. We encourage applicants to review the 2026 Razor Clam Regulations

This fishery is open only to principally domiciled residents of Brewster. Applicants must provide four (4) of the following documents as proof of residency, subject to approval by the Shellfish Constable:

  1. Current mortgage statement
  2. Current motor vehicle excise tax bill issued by the Town
  3. Current real estate tax bill issued by the Town
  4. Current lease or rental agreement for a Brewster residence
  5. Current listing on the Town census or list of persons
  6. Other documentation approved by the Shellfish Constable

Please note: A driver’s license is not accepted as proof of domicile.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available spaces, a lottery will be held on May 27, 2026.

Applicants selected to participate must obtain:

  • A valid Massachusetts Commercial Fishing Permit with Shellfish Endorsement
  • A Town of Brewster Commercial Shellfish Permit with Razor Clam Endorsement
