Beautify Brewster 2025 Recap
On Sunday, April 27th over 100 volunteers joined the annual litter cleanup that covered approximately 26.58 miles of roadways, a quarter mile of our beaches and a half mile of the Bike Trail. A total of 1,670 pounds of litter was picked up and responsibly managed as recycling or trash. Additionally, the deposit cans were donated to Cents for Scouts, a $37.15 value.
Compared to the prior year, there was 500 more pounds of trash, however due to repeated coastal storms, wood debris was removed from our beaches, which added to the litter. There was 633 less nips (1,486) and 135 less beer/soda cans (743) than in 2024, the downward trend continues.
Volunteers were treated to a luncheon at the Brewster Baptist Church supplied by the generosity of local businesses including Stop & Shop, Shaw’s, Trader Joe’s, Laurino’s Brewster, Ferretti’s Market, The Kitchen Café, Uncle Pete’s Chowder House, Pepsi Bottling Company, Brewster Pizza House, Freemans Grill, Café Alfresco, Chatham Bars Farm and JTs Seafood Restaurant.
Beautify Brewster is co-sponsored by the Brewster Department of Natural Resources and the Cape Cod Anti-Litter Coalition. Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors for their commitment to keeping Brewster Beautiful!
