This year the Water Department is required to sample lead and copper, as part of its routine sampling schedule.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has mandated that all Public Water Suppliers update their Lead and Copper Sampling Plan. Residences must meet the requirement of a Tier I location as described by the EPA as- “a single family dwelling with copper pipes installed after 1982 (but before June 19, 1988-the effective date of your Massachusetts’ lead ban)”.
